Hurricane Helene Relief
& Recovery

Serving Our Neighbors with Hope, Compassion, and Hot Meals

When Hurricane Helene struck the mountains of Western North Carolina, our community at Burnette Cove Missionary Baptist Church opened its doors immediately to serve those in need. Many of our neighbors lost homes, vehicles, and access to food and clean water. Roads were washed out, families displaced, and daily life was turned upside down.

From the very first day of the storm’s aftermath, our fellowship hall became a place of refuge — a gathering point for prayer, comfort, and practical help. Volunteers and church members worked around the clock to:

  • Provide meals and bottled water to families who lost power or couldn’t cook.

  • Distribute emergency supplies, including blankets, hygiene kits, and cleaning materials.

  • Offer our facility as a warming and charging station for anyone needing light, power, or connection.

  • Partner with local churches and community members to deliver food to homebound residents and elderly neighbors isolated by flood damage.

  • Support cleanup and rebuilding efforts, offering manpower, meals, and encouragement to those who are starting over.

Through the grace of God and the generosity of our volunteers and donors, we have served hundreds of hot meals and touched countless lives. But our work is far from over.

Building for Long-Term Recovery

As our community continues to rebuild, Burnette Cove Missionary Baptist Church is taking the next step in recovery by expanding our capacity to serve. We are working toward the installation of a commercial kitchen and safety upgrades to transform our fellowship hall into a permanent Community Meal & Relief Center.

This will allow us to:

  • Serve hot, nutritious meals year-round to families in need.

  • Host disaster response volunteers and distribute relief supplies.

  • Provide a safe, accessible space for community gatherings and recovery programs.

Our goal is simple: to ensure no one in our community goes hungry — not during this disaster, and not after.

💛 How You Can Help

You can join us in this mission by:

  • Volunteering your time to help with meal prep, cleanup, or deliveries.

  • Donating supplies like canned goods, bottled water, cleaning products, or kitchen equipment.

  • Giving financially to support the construction of our community kitchen and ongoing relief work.

Every act of kindness helps rebuild hope.

🙏 A Message from Our Leadership

“This church has stood as a beacon in Burnette Cove for generations. Through storms, loss, and rebuilding, our faith and our love for our neighbors have only grown stronger. Together, we’ll restore not only homes but hearts.”
